If a US national has family connections to the UK, then they may be able to apply for a long term visa to enable them to settle in the UK. The primary example of this would be if a US national has a partner who is a British citizen or indefinite leave to remain. If that is the case then subject to meeting the requirements for this route, a US national would be able to obtain a 2 ½ year visa to live in the UK, which would enable them to live, work and access healthcare services in the UK. Other options for relocating to the UK would include where a US national has a child living in the UK with their other parent. Further, if the US national has long term care needs which cannot be met in the USA, and they have a family member who is British or has indefinite leave to remain, then they may be able to apply for an Adult Dependent Relative visa.
